What’s your velocity?

As part of our Mathematics unit about velocity, each student was timed running. We compared their results with that of the fastest man in the world (at the time), Usain Bolt. The sheet above shows the mathematics involved.

Mathematics pairing game

MOnce the students had learnt about multiplying and dividing by multiples of 10, I invented a card game. Students could ‘Snap’ with another person’s card if they could explain the relationship. i.e. 3.87 would snap with 387 if you explained that your card, 387 would become their card if it were divided by 100.
